Week 7 Practice Schedule
Hey Everyone,
Happy Sunday! We have a very busy week ahead of us, so please read through the following practice and meet schedule for the week. We have an absolute required meet on Wednesday and then a community 5K meet that I'd like all of the high school students to do on Saturday. If you are unable to participate in the meet Saturday, let me know by practice tomorrow, but we can get an official team score, so I'd like as many of us there as possible! =) Middle school students should probably sit out on the meet Saturday because you will have your own middle school meet next week on Wednesday (which would make 3 meets within a week). Don't forget that uniforms will be given out Monday, pictures are on Tuesday and then the meets on Wednesday and Saturday. A busy week for sure! PERSEVERE!

Saturday
I hope you are all having a fantastic Friday. I'm having a great time worshiping with the middle school students on the middle school retreat. Special thanks to Mr. White and Mrs. Flowers for running practice on Thursday! I have decided to cancel practice for Saturday morning because of a few reasons (my wife's birthday and exhaustion from the retreat / football game), however I do expect you to run 3-5 miles on your own and e-mail me a screenshot. Our uniforms have also arrived and will be given out Monday at practice. Next week will be very busy with practice on Monday @ HHCA, pictures and practice on Tuesday @ Jarvis Creek, a meet at Honey Horn on Wednesday, a short practice Friday on Pinckney Island and a meet at Hampton Lake on Saturday. I will send a full detailed schedule for next week sometime this weekend. I hope you are all having a great week! Persevere!

Week 5 Schedule
Hey everyone,
It's actually a pretty normal week, no retreats or meets, so I look forward to some good, dedicated down-to-business practicing. I would like you all to work towards running 4-5 days total a week, so that means 1 or 2 days of running on your own outside of our team practice. When you do this, send a screenshot or share your results of 'Map My Run' to my e-mail (or something similar) and I'll add it to your stats. You'll be amazed at how much it will help!

Run for RET Results
Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! While many
HHCA students were sleeping Saturday morning recovering from the
retreat, our cross country team participated in our second meet - the
Run for Ret held at Hilton Head Prep! We had 14 runners participate
in the meet, with several of them running in their first 5K ever. We
had a great day on the tough course with the boys team finishing 4th,
and the girls team finishing 3rd. Our top three runners for the boys
included Sam Gilman, Grayson Lentz, and Hunter Greenwell. For the
girls, it was Callie Haertel, Alyssa White and Lindsey Gillis. Great
job to all who participated!

Run for RET is Tomorrow!
Hey everyone,
I hope you had an amazing retreat experience and you have come back spiritually refreshed and challenged. Don't forget that tomorrow is already our second meet of the season - The Run for Ret! This 5K race is being held tomorrow morning at 8am at Hilton Head Prep and all team members should plan on arriving between 7am-7:15am and meet in the middle school gym. I have entered all that are able to attend the meet to run in this 5K, so I'm excited to see what you can do in a competition! Since our uniforms will be ordered this week, please wear running clothes with school colors (shirt at least). If you happen to have the LOCAL Under Armour type shirt, that would be a great shirt to wear. Please, don't wear any red (Prep's colors). Come ready in the morning well stretched and ready to race! Hilton Head Prep is located @ 8 Foxgrape Rd (at the end of Cordillo Pkwy) on the South End. See you early in the morning! Get some sleep! =)

Week 4 Schedule
On this retreat and meet week, we have a bit of unusual schedule, but
get yourself mentally and physically ready for Saturday's meet (Run for
Ret) @ HH Prep. I have a majority of you signed up for this event to
see how you can handle a 5K race. I haven't been able to establish the
finite details yet with the host, but plan on meeting at 7am @ HH Prep
on Saturday for the meet. Make sure you get plenty of sleep Friday
night after a long retreat, because you will be tired! Remember our
biblical theme for the year as it relates to running and life in
general...

What a Great First Meet!
"In
their inaugural year, the Hilton Head Christian Academy Cross Country
team put in a great effort in their first meet at the Bluffton Scorcher
5K held Saturday, August 17th in Hampton Hall. Seven runners ran for
the HHCA Eagles, with two boys running as individuals and five girls
running as a team. For the boys, a strong performance was put in by 7th
grader Sam Gilman with a time of 19:18 and
sophomore Grayson Lentz with a time of 20:25. Sam Gilman also received
a medal for placing 1st in the 9-12 age bracket. The HHCA girls team
was led by senior Alyssa White and freshman Callie Haertel finishing
together with a time of 24:47. Finishing out the rest of the girls team
were senior Andy Anderson with a time of 26:21, sophomore Lindsey
Gillis with a time of 28:44 and freshman Macee Taminnen with a time of
28:45. Overall, the girls team placed fourth with a team score of 165
behind Hilton Head Prep, Bluffton High and Hilton Head High. It was a
great performance by the HHCA Cross Country Eagles in their first meet
of the season."

Week 2 Schedule
Hey Everyone,
We've had a great start to our program and I'm proud of each of you for your hard work. As school gets going this week, think about 2-3 people that you'd like to recruit into our program. With 3 practices a week and several meets, it is a great way to get in excellent shape and have a fun time doing it together. Next Saturday, I'm going to likely enter Sam, Callie and Allison in the 5K, but we all need to attend to cheer them on. I will get exact details about the meet to you soon. Also, be aware of our Eaglesfest event put on by the boosters Tuesday night from 5-7pm. We need to attend this event, since you will be recognized as new members of the cross country team. The financial agreement for the team should be coming out this week for you. Also, don't forget to go by Palmetto Running Company to get your running gear. great! What a beautiful sunset jog along Leg O' Mutton's new path.

Join the Cross Country Team!
Join HHCA's latest fall sport - the cross-country team! If you enjoy running on the beautiful paths, trails or beaches of Hilton Head Island, this is the perfect sport for you. The co-ed cross-country team will participate in several regional 5K meets this fall with the goal of sending our team to the state SCISA meet. Practices will be held 3 times a week with meets typically on either Wednesday or Saturday. Any middle or upper school students are eligible to sign up for the cross-country team with the season lasting from August-October. Costs involved include meet and uniform fees along with overnight expenses for the State Meet. The cross-country team will be coached by music director James Berry. Coach Berry has always had a love for cross-country participating all four years in high school in Maryland, with his school finishing in the top 3 teams in the state for several consecutive years.
