"In
their inaugural year, the Hilton Head Christian Academy Cross Country
team put in a great effort in their first meet at the Bluffton Scorcher
5K held Saturday, August 17th in Hampton Hall. Seven runners ran for
the HHCA Eagles, with two boys running as individuals and five girls
running as a team. For the boys, a strong performance was put in by 7th
grader Sam Gilman with a time of 19:18 and
sophomore Grayson Lentz with a time of 20:25. Sam Gilman also received
a medal for placing 1st in the 9-12 age bracket. The HHCA girls team
was led by senior Alyssa White and freshman Callie Haertel finishing
together with a time of 24:47. Finishing out the rest of the girls team
were senior Andy Anderson with a time of 26:21, sophomore Lindsey
Gillis with a time of 28:44 and freshman Macee Taminnen with a time of
28:45. Overall, the girls team placed fourth with a team score of 165
behind Hilton Head Prep, Bluffton High and Hilton Head High. It was a
great performance by the HHCA Cross Country Eagles in their first meet
of the season."
